I strive to pride myself on thoroughly understanding the assignment and then executing that task to the best of my abilities. Recently, Madison brought to me a concept that was incredibly near and dear to her heart, which she was eager to transform into reality in preparation for an exciting role that she was awarded to act out in an upcoming play. So, let’s take a step back and delve deeper into the story…
Madison is an incredibly talented actor hailing from the vibrant Los Angeles area, and she was performing a captivating character in a play in Denver. During her time in town, she connected with a good friend of mine, Noelia, who is someone I've collaborated with a countless number of times. Madison was thrilled to have been awarded a dream role, embodying a character she has always aspired to play. In celebration of this wonderful achievement, she was eager to do a striking photoshoot aimed at bringing more depth and life to her portrayal of the character. Noelia, being the thoughtful and supportive friend that she is, referred Madison to me to effectively capture this look, drawn by the moody vibe of Madison's subject. She firmly believed that I would be the most suitable choice to authentically evoke the mood and essence of the character in the photographs.
Madison shared a few detailed examples of what she envisioned and wanted to accomplish, and I took it upon myself to ensure that she fully understood that I was indeed the right man for the job.
From my experience working with all of the incredible people that my friend Noelia has referred to me over the years, I can confidently say that they have all been exceptionally cool individuals with vibrant and engaging personalities, and Madison was no different. My greatest memory from the session was her lively entry into the studio. I happened to be casually enjoying a cold Modelo, which is my usual go-to for this type of creative session, when she noticed the bottle in my hand upon her arrival. She made a playful remark about how good it looked, and I eagerly asked her if she wanted one as well. Her immediate and enthusiastic response was, “Fuck yea!” This was my very first encounter with her in person, and I was immediately struck by her dynamic personality. I absolutely love when a client walks into the studio showing no signs of nerves or apprehension at the start of a session; it is a refreshing experience that allows me to focus entirely on the essential elements of composition, lighting, and posing, without having to worry about putting my client at ease as well.
During our time together on this photoshoot, I had the wonderful opportunity to get to know Madison on a much deeper level, and her story is truly incredible. While we were discussing various ideas through text, meticulously planning out the session, I initially assumed that she lived right here in Denver. To my surprise, I discovered that she was actually based in Los Angeles but was in Denver for business purposes. I was fascinated by her craft, which has brought her to Denver for an extended period of time. She mentioned that she absolutely loves to visit this city and comes out to Denver quite frequently. I sincerely hope that she and I will have the chance to connect again at some point during her future travels to this beautiful city. Or perhaps, just maybe, I could pay her a visit in her hometown someday; who knows what the future holds…
I am deeply honored that I was given the wonderful opportunity to work with such a remarkably professional and vibrant person as Madison. It fills me with joy that, while in town on business, she chose me to capture such a special moment and significant milestone in her thriving career! I genuinely hope that our paths cross again in the future, and if that moment arises, I’m incredibly eager to see the incredible magic we can create together. Until then, I will cherish and enjoy the magic that we created within the two-hour timeframe that we spent together during this memorable session, and I sincerely hope that you can enjoy these images as much as we do!
